Danny comes from a devoted and dedicated Christian family.
Right from infancy, his parent taught him about God, as the creator of the universe and all there is in it including humans. Psalms 100:3.
They never failed to let him understand that the supreme God is their father whose existence is evident in the wonders seen in creation and that he really loves and cares about them.
They went further to make him understand that God sees everything we do and shows interest in them. And that he doesn't like disobedient children.
Danny began to love what he learned about God as he grew up. This was evident in his unalloyed obedience to his parents. His love for God grew stronger and he always talked to his friends and others about him and the things he has done and will do in the future for them.
However, some of his friends paid attention to him and began to love God too while others put up nonchalant attitudes toward his messages.
Danny was encouraged by the attitude of his good friends who paid attention to him and had allowed the word of God change them.
Nevertheless, he never allowed the nonchalant attitudes of his other friends discourage him.
He would always look for opportunities to talk to them hoping that they'll change one day.
However, as event turned out, after Danny graduated from high school, he decided to further his educational ambition. He sat for the recommended entry examinations into the university and passed well.
Soon he got admission into one of the well recognized universities in his state.
Needless to say, he was very happy as he'd always hoped to gain admission at one sitting, not two or three like in the stories he used to hear about other young high school leavers .
At the university, Danny didn't hesitate to make friends with students who were also newly admitted like him and were seeking some closure from the kind of life they left behind at home.
He wasn't afraid to make them understand his religious beliefs. Again, he was always ready to tell his friends what they should expect of him and what they shouldn't.
However, just like it happened in high school, some of his new friends showed interest in his beliefs while others gave him a sharp rebuff.
Consequently, Danny soon started having incessant encounter with vicious bullies in the school. They would walk up to him and confront him over his Christlike attitude.
On one occasion, a notorious gang of bullies had accosted him and threatened to hurt him if he doesn't keep his beliefs to himself.
"Hey halt there now! You this piece of shit, you think you can proselytize us with your every day preachy sermons and attitude? You're joking. If you've know the ground you're walking on and how slippery it is, you'll learn to thread with caution." They snapped.
Danny tried to defend himself with his usual soft words but they cut him in.
"Hey! Keep quiet and get this into your tiny skull. If you love your life and wish to last in this campus you'd betterjoin us or get ready to run back home to your parents. The choice is yours. One more thing, any day you walk past our meetings net and not stop to hail us properly you'd regret the day you stepped your stinking feet into this campus." They threatened him.
The attack became a daily problem Danny had to deal with. Sometimes, they visited him in his hostel room and made trouble with him. They had warned him against the nasty consequence of trying to report them to the school authorities.
"If your neck is precious to you, you'd better not say a thing or two about us and our business with you to the school authorities. If you so desire to have freedom, join us. We're the original owners of freedom. We believe we're not talking to a fool of the highest order. A word should be enough for a fool of the lowest order." They threatened.
...To be continued.
